join us as we cycle the african continent.

Welcome to World Biking Africa!  The adventure began in June 2006 as we set off to explore Africa by bicycle.  After pedaling more than 30,000 kilometers and traversing 32 countries, we arrived in Cape Town on 13 November 2007.   From Africa's southernmost tip we began the long journey home via East Africa.  The new year brought with it a fit of Africa exhaustion and a sudden change of plans brought us to South India for a six month 'break'.  18 July will mark our return to South Africa.  Cycling is an environmentally-friendly, cost-effective and healthy means of transport and we hope our bike trip will inspire others to (re)discover the pleasures of pedaling.  Our trip is more than just the realization of a personal dream:  we are cycling in support of CAMFED  an international charity that promotes educations for girls in Africa.

Update 22  18 April  2008         India: Tamil Nadu and Kerala
A bit of brainwashing at a yoga ashram, fantastic rides through the tea plantations and forests of the Western Ghats and a return to suffering as South India's plains start to sizzle in the summer heat.

Update 21  8 January  2008         South Africa & Lesotho
Lots of interaction with the locals as we learn more about the challenges facing the Rainbow Nation. Tackling the many spectacular passes of the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho  left our legs aching and our bums burning, but it is nevertheless one of the highlights of our entire trip.

Update 20  27 November  2007         South Africa
After 1 year, 5 months and 6 days we arrive in Cape Town at last!  But is this really the end of the adventure?  Find out more.
